The long awaited new cruising guide for certain areas in the western
Caribbean is out. I just bought a copy from the publisher's booth at the St. Petersburg
boat show last week. The guide is titled "A Cruising Guide to: The Northwest Caribbean" Volume 1. The areas it covers are as follows: northern coast of
Jamaica, the
Cayman Islands,
Honduras and the Bay Islands and
Guatemala and the Rio Dulce. There is much to recommend this book for those cruising or planning to
cruise this area because some of this info has not appeared in previous
cruising guides and it greatly updates information found in the Rauscher guide which had kinda become the "Bible" for the Rio Dulce but which has become quite dated. The chartlets alone should be worth the
price.Seaworthy Publications is the publisher. For those just planning to
cruise the western
Caribbean a copy of the Rauscher guide should still be considered essential.
