Bahamas in a Bayfield 25

Anyone done this or know of anyone having done this? A blog or website would be really nice. I am looking to go on the cheap for about six months. Just finished grad school and I am thinking a little trip would be nice. Years ago I looked into going, but just could not swing it. Now I am going to give it a go unless a job op pops up that I can not turn down.

No problem. Have seen a couple of small Bayfields out there. Lots of good spots for anchoring with that draft, you'll be in with the multi-hulls.

You shouldn't have any problems in your Bayfield, Slim. Make sure you have a good anchor, with 50' of chain or more to ward off the coral.

Bayfields were all built very well. They were made to haul lots of stuff. Since they are all more than 20 years old a surveyor is needed to really say if that boat is still in great condition. Many still sail fine today.

I've done several trips to the Bahamas in 26-footers with drafts of 2 to 3 feet. You will be able to enjoy many wonderful places not easily accessible to bigger, deeper draft boats.

Back in the late 1980's to early 90's on yearly trips to Lake Huron we would occasional meet an older retired gentleman who lived aboard and traveled between the Bahamas and Lake Huron with the seasons on a Bayfield 25. Screw the job go for it.
