Abaco weather in December

Before chartering out of Marsh Harbour in early December, I searched for info on the weather, and was unable to find anything recent. I thought I'd post our experience in case anyone else is looking. We arrived to a very changeable day with spitting rain and sunny breaks. It stayed warm no matter whether it was raining or not. We had mostly really nice sunny days with very nice steady 15 to 20 knot breezes. One day we woke up to drizzle which soon turned to monsoon rain. Navigating the Tilloo Bank channel was a challenge - like driving with a garden hose spraying in your face, but never really got cool. Nights aboard were very pleasant - mostly nothing more than a sheet over us. The fleeces we'd brought were never unpacked. Also, we were never bothered by bugs whether at anchor or in the marina. We didn't experience the "sea lice" stings I had read about (actually little jellyfish). The only bites we got were no-see-ums at MHH when we were waiting to depart (waiting area is outside).

The "must returns" of our trip? Tahiti Beach, which is very well-named and the reef at Sandy Cay - one of the best snorkels we've ever done (and we've done many).

The Sea of Abaco is an amazing place and the sailing is fantastic. Easy to navigate and very friendly locals, everywhere we went.
