Best marinas for wintering in the Med

we are liveaboards on a 44 ft Feeling 446 sailing the Med.
after 5 years spending the winter in marina di Riposto we are looking for an other marina for our winter stay.
In the Med, Portugal, or Canary Islands.
Do you have any recommandations ?
We want : good shelter, clean toilets and showers, a town nearby (on walking distance). a (small) community of other liveaboards, shops and restaurants nearby, airport in the vincinity.

What are your experiances?
have a great summer, thanks for your replies,
Greetings,
Frans and Janneke Donders

Which side of the Mediterranean?
More Costa del Sol in Spain?
Catalonia?
Sardinia?
France?
Sicily?
Greece / Turkey?

And what do you consider "in the vicinity" of an airport?

All of the Med, all info is welcome,
in the vincinity in my opinion is not to far to travel by public transport in half a day

Re: best marinas for wintering in the Med

Lefkas marina is round the corner , not cheap , but right in the town , good connections to Athens , preveza airport nearby , it has a lovely winter live aboard community , about 40 boats. They organise all sorts of activities etc.

Preveza has a new marina , worth having a look

If you prefer to be hauled out , Aktio and Ionian are nearby

Surprised given you’re in Vonitsa you haven’t been to these places

Aktio airport(PVK) is close to Lefkas but has few flights in the winter.
Almerimar is close to Almeria airport and not to far away from Malaga airport. No idea about showers or toilets there but there are shops, bars and restaurants.

Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands has really everything what YOU expect from a marina. It is also possible to anchor near the marina an go to the it when bad weather is anounced.

They had a very kind dutch speaking staff member in 2019.

If you can reserve a berth in the town of Palma de Mallorca it is a lovely place to spend the winter. Every service available. Walking distance to the town and supermarket. You can wander around the old town for hours., Fantastic local Cuisine. Try Cellar Supremsa for dinner. Good air connections..See. https://www.portdemallorca.com/en/contact

Re: best marinas for wintering in the Med

we wintered in Lisbon, Marina Parque das Nacoes not in the med but so much to do in that vibrant city, and far up the river so not affected by winter storms. I hear Lagos is good for communities and has some nightlife. Portamoa is a nice marina cant say what the winter would be like there but plenty of cafes bars etc.
We are in Sardinia now, cant really recommend it as very quiet over the winter and services are poor. Flights are iffy and getting anything done on your boat is slow.

Alcudiamar marina in the north of Mallorca. https://www.alcudiamar.es/touristic-...ortive-harbour . The boat spent 10 years or so based there while we commuted as often as possible from UK. Has all the facilities & is very sheltered indeed from bad weather. Is in Port d'Alcudia which is big enough still to have plenty of facilities open through winter. About a 45 minute drive to Palma airport.

If you're happy to come out of the Med proper, the Bouregreg-Rabat would be my choice; a cracking spot in a lovely country and a 'bit different' from the usual fare.

Yes, but how will you deal with the surge of Covid-19 Delta variant in most mediterranean countries. Turkey, and othesr are all seriouly affected by this plague.

Spain probably has the highest rate of vaccinations in the EU. They pretty much have covid under control. Almost everyone has wanted to be vaccinated.
