Wintering over 2018/2019 in the Western Med

Looking for advice for the best locations to store our boat over the 2018/2019 winter in the Western Med. We would prefer to store on the hard but as a 44 ft catamaran this may limit our options.

A very popular winter/over spot in the Western Med is here in Cartagena, Spain. There are quite a few cats that stay here over the winter in the water. The marina does not charge extra for a cat. If you want to be on the hard, there is an adjacent yard (ASCAR) that could haul you out. Check out Yacht Port Cartagena. I have no affiliation, this is my second winter here.

Didn't know about this one ! Alguarve region in Portugal has some goods marinas too for winter, the smaller one between Faro and Lagos. Best of all - prices are lower because of winter.

Port Napoleon, Ports St Louis du Rhone was very cat friendly and reasonable. Large concrete standing and good access by air

A good haul out destination can be found in Malta at Manoel Island Yard Yard.

Almerimar.. 120nm from Gibraltar.. half hour to fast comfortable mainline trains to Madrid and 40 minutes from the airport..
Good repair facilties, large travel lift, good security and cameras.. sailmakers, chandlers, excellent supermarket, hotels and leisure facilities with quality golf course.. very friendly and helpful staff.
And all year round beaches..

Re: Wintering over 2018/2019 in the Western Med

We are in Northern Sardinia, Porto Torres. There are quite a few boats out on hardstanding within boat ompound.

Also Castelsardo have winter hardstanding. Conveniently located in mid western med, rather than way over to the west! Not sure about prices as we have a 12 month marina berth, but moved from SOF which was more expensive, Port du Gapeau, Hyeres, which is all hardstanding, and cost 300euro per month for 12m mono hull, althoigh a lot of cats also here.

Good luck
