Re: corona virus alerts - Latest cruising Information for vessels/locations/rules

It is not just recreational boats that are being inhibited.

Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Disney, and dozens of other cruise lines won't sail out of the US until at least October 31

An industry group of roughly 60 cruise lines announced on Wednesday that they won't sail from US ports until October 31 at the earliest.

This extension from an earlier September 15 date comes amid multiple outbreaks of the coronavirus aboard cruise ships worldwide that recently began sailing. The sail date extension from September 15 to October 31 comes amid multiple outbreaks of the coronavirus aboard some of the first cruises to set sail since the pandemic forced closures across the industry. Two cruise ships in Europe and one in the South Pacific have experienced coronavirus outbreaks. This included Norway's Hurtigruten, Germany's AIDA, and Paul Gauguin in the South Pacific region.

Re: corona virus alerts - Latest cruising Information for vessels/locations/rules

New Zealand Auckland region is now in Alert Level 3. That means no boating of any kind. Masks are recommended but not required. No recreational travel out from or in to the Auckland region. The rest of NZ is at level 2; boating is allowed.

https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19/res...t-alert-level/

Currently in effect to midnight Friday 14 August. Most expect the regional lockdown to last 2-3 weeks.

Tahiti opened its borders a couple of weeks back, it now has 50 cases.

A prerequisite of entering Fiji is you must get a covid test from the country you are leaving from. Tahiti from today are denying covid tests to outboard sailors due to limited testing ability and prioritizing it.

Re: corona virus alerts - Latest cruising Information for vessels/locations/rules

Present situation in Spain.

Left graph is all Spain - active cases as of August 12.

Red graph is : Canary Islands, as of August 12.

Clearly we are into the second wave. Too bad local authorities keep on pretending everything is OK.

In red - local data from Canary Islands (daily new cases). Place where some insist a world biggest rally for cruisers ( ARC ) is arriving any day now.

Oh, come, come ! weatlhy tourist - enjoy our field hospitals ;-)

barnakiel,

With regard to your post above, I guess what you're getting at is that the Canaries are still officially open? If so, could you please post a source for that, and for the graphs you attached? Thank you.

I spoke with a senior and informed advisor to NZ Government last night, privately, but not In Confidence. That person expects a much wider lockdown is coming, but does admit nothing is certain.

I'm hoping like hell my mate is wrong.

But IMO, that means there is a greater than 50% chance of NZ going to level three then level four, for a month, this probably announced Friday night.

If anyone needs to move a boat around NZ, or to a location where they can somehow use it ..... do it NOW.

Indeed there are videos of exceptionally long lines outside the grocery stores as people are stockpiling, and unfortunately definitely not social distancing, but wearing masks. https://www.yahoo.com/news/panic-buy...200000039.html

New Zealand health officials said Wednesday a COVID-19 cluster in Auckland had grown, raising the prospect a lockdown imposed on the country's biggest city after the virus returned will be extended. https://www.yahoo.com/news/zealand-m...230115307.html

Only if your boat is currently outside of the Auckland region.

If you’re in the Auckland region then no can do, level 3 means no boating. Sigh.

There are different measures depending on one's destination in Spain. And as with many things related to Covid-19 they are subject to rapid change; meaning one can't really plan ahead of time, but rather has to be ready to sort of take it day to day, week to week.

There may be differences in each region, depending on their situation. Each Autonomous Region may change the measures or issue additional measures. Links to the official information of each Autonomous Region are given at the link below,

Auckland region New Zealand no boating for another 12 days to midnight Wednesday 26 August. I’m very tempted to ** the government and go sailing anyway.

Re: corona virus alerts - Latest cruising Information for vessels/locations/rules

news article today that should be of interest for anybody thinking queensland border closure is not serious

qte

Men busted trying to dodge Qld border restrictions in sail boat
August 15, 2020 6:57 am in Gold Coast by Shanee Dobeson

A group of men have copped hefty fines after they were caught trying to sneak across the Queensland border from NSW in a sail boat.

The group were reportedly busted near the Gold Coast Seaway yesterday afternoon.

Officers from Maritime Safety Queensland intercepted the vessel, which was allegedly on its way from Byron Bay to Cairns.

Under the Queensland Government’s new border ban, the whole of NSW is declared a coronavirus hotspot, except for the Tweed Shire.

It’s understood all of the men on board the sail boat had failed to fill out a border declaration form.

They have since been fined $4000 each and forced into mandatory hotel quarantine at their own expense.

uqte

i believe the mandatory hotel quarantine costs about $3000. on top will be 2 weeks mooring for the boat.

if you are thinking about trying to sneak into queensland - suggest think again.

cheers,
