Re: Links to lifepo4 battery cells

Price is right, if they are unused, recent mfg Grade A.

Especially if they match capacity well, only bigger vendors can afford to do that.

Also SE180AHA
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/K5CIqobm

Have you tried contacting CALB directly?

I forgot to include the Will Prowse video where he tests the CALB batteries. https://youtu.be/Di2o7an-WJw

Re: Links to lifepo4 battery cells

Yes this Ali vendor

Lifepo4 BATT Store / Battery Warehouse

https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/CcE5FlJK

is getting lots of forum promotion threads all over the internet

seems to be driven by Will's video, but may be a coordinated paid PR / social media campaign.

Or maybe they are indeed a trustworthy vendor, selling genuine, brand new and Grade A quality CALB cells at very attractive pricing.

Which would of course be wonderful!

I hope we start getting feedback from known-honest members buying them, willing to run tests on the cells' arrival.

I believe these listings are falsely claiming the CALB brand

Re: Links to lifepo4 battery cells

Here they are claiming made by CATL

https://m.aliexpress.com/storesearch...&keywords=catl

But appear to be the same no-name generic "blue wrap" cells you see sold all over.

Setting aside for now the trustworthiness of this particular seller.

I'd **highly** recommend sticking with CALB and other makers confirmed good by hundreds of users over many years.

As in Winston/Thundersky, GBS, Sinopoly and A123 (now Lithium Werks)

Re: Links to lifepo4 battery cells

These are the ones I bought:

https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...1ae0uqx6uqx6yE

Had a bit of bulge on two but the tested out fine and perfectly in-line with the other two cells. I asked what was the issue and the answer from Simon Lin (the rep) was some of the plastic cases had minor manufacturing flaws. I just put the on the ends.

These however are of higher construction standard with aluminum housing instead of plastic, for considerable weight and size reduction. I did see Will test some of these and finding them at advertised capacity. Cycle life should be as advertised as well because prismatic lifepo4 cells all have similar characteristics.

Construction quality and quality control are the main concerns for me but the unknown factor is just the same as it was with early buyers of the Winston, Sinopoly and Calb cells. I am playing with the idea to build an 1,120Ah 12V battery with these

Re: Links to lifepo4 battery cells

Do as you like then.

Just know that

> Cycle life should be as advertised as well because prismatic lifepo4 cells all have similar characteristics.

"as advertised" is a very low bar, the higher QA standards, chemical purity and build quality of the top tier makers, combined with

low C-rate House storage usage, and

proper care as much as possible

should lead to decades' lifespans far longer than the lesser makers, and far longer than any maker ratings.

Personally I would only recommend them if their price was a small fraction of the likes of CALB, would rather have a secondhand set of the latter than a new one of the unknown.

After 7-10 years maybe we'll see, but then there is no brand to remember them by.
