LiFePO4 and insurance

Simple questions.

Do you have LiFEPo4 batteries on board AND does your insurance company know that you do?

I've seen lots of statements about how insurance companies won't insure the boat if LiFePO's are aboard. So the second question is if you had LiFePO4's on board were you dropped from your carrier, refused a claim by your carrier or refused coverage by a new carrier?

Real world, first hand accounts only please.

Re: LiFePO4 and insurance

We upgraded to LiFePo4 batteries last year and requested an increase to hull value coverage due to the size of the investment. As part of the approval, the underwriters wanted schematics and price lists for the newly installed equipment.

After the underwriter review we were approved for the increase in insured hull value.

Felt pretty good I had a “leg to stand on” if there were some issues down the road after that!
