Yep, that's what I actually do for planning. And at €35 (about AUD55) for Aus, PNG and several other surrounding countries O-charts is a bargain.



But for the OP, the Navionics web app is a free good introduction.

Agree, but it’s very good to give you a quick starting point.

What I tend to do is use the autoroute for a first approximation then go along and manually adjust the route to one that meets my requirements.

Making sure I use an appropriate scale so I don’t miss any islands or reefs along the way!

Thanks for that advice and i agree totally but in this day and age, anyone who produced such an app for various countries based on specific scripts and existing internet resources would do very well in my opinion..

I am going to try and reply to a extremely valuable resource being Gulumay (again, I can not check because I will be logged out and lose this post stream.
