Once you get to
Maine, The cruising
guide to the Maine coast is invaluable. If you get to Penobscot Bay (some of the best of the best of
Maine cruising) many cruisers
head to Camden because it's well known.
Head to Rockland instead. Lot's of services and large harbor. Don't plan on spending much time there however as it is just a gateway to the islands. I have cruised these waters for 35 years and each year find a new harbor in which to spend the night. Pulpit, Perry Creek, Merchant Row, Castine, Buck's Harbor, Blue Hill Bay and Mount Desert are all easily accessed. Stay on the downcurrent side of any lobster pot and you'll do all right.
Look us up when you get to Maine and we'll have a
beer over a chart.
Cheers,
Thom
