Refugees at Sea - Florida Straits & Bahamas?

I've seen reports of the incredible violence in Haiti and persistent economic challenges in Cuba. I'm guessing this can only increase the numbers needing to escape to the US, and particuarly, Florida.

National US media has mentioned Haitian arrivals in Dry Tortugas, and reported traffickers of the SE coast. Not really much insight on what the actual situation is. Anyone encountered boats with refugees in the Florida Straits? Have recent events caused any impact to cruising plans?, Florida to Bahamas?

Last year we were at Ft. Jefferson and saw dozens of chunks and the USCG rounding up detainees.
