Tree of knowledge outposts

Wanted to start a thread something like “best cruiser hangouts” Ideally somewhere with a modest priced community lounge/ dinghy dock. Especially interested to know about places in Indonesia/Thailand. Maybe should post in SE Asia thread also.

Brunswick, GA nice lounge “free” beer at marina
Vero Beach free with mooring lounge/ park grounds
Boot Key, actual tree of knowledge at head of dinghy dock area (possibly damaged by Irma?)

Georgetown Bahamas, Chat and Chill Honeymoon/Monument

Ragged Islands/ nice hut for sundowners

Luperon/ all private bars/ marinas but reasonable prices

Linton Bay Marina, common area now leased to restaurant. Prices OK but bummer to loose a common area.

Russell NZ. $115 NZD annual membership in Russell Boating Club. Great park space and community gardens/ free dinghy dock. Hot showers $2

Others onward??!

Re: Tree of knowledge outposts

Maybe I made this too vague. Should be “cool places to hangout”

After nearly 5 months, adding Russell NZ and BOI to this list especially if you are into doing a bit of racing.

Looking to move onto QLD for winter if border permissions can be obtained so any good anchorages/cruising clubs to check out in Australia including over the top and around towards Broome appreciated.

Re: Tree of knowledge outposts

How can Brunswick Ga be in the same discussion as Boot Ket etc. You think that “all you can drink PBR” is free (lounge been closed for a year)? Nothing at BLM marina is “free”.

Vero Beach has nothing really in walking distance. So the free bus is a requirement. All you have to do is give the bugs their blood.

Georgetown Bahamas, biggest plus is free water

Best cruiser hangouts i feel at medium sized anchorages with good shore access, stores and restaurants/bars nearby with a mix of high end/medium/dive places.

Btw BK tree is doing fine

I did like the cruisers hangout building at ragged (hog cay)
Maybe the biggest hermit crabs I've seen, and goats everywhere!
But a great beach and shelter/shade. And far enough off the beaten path that it isnt overly crowded
