Re: Thanks to Aussie and Canadian Fire Fighters

some clad in black arsonists have thankfully been arrested... lets hope more are discovered and punished for this conflagration destroying cali and oregon and washington.
so far--lightning scores 4 -11 starts, baby gender reveal scores 1 start, down power lines score 1 start so far, may be more which means the lil arsonists have a high score to settle for..and more issues unfortunately political as cali's governor refuses to allow brush abatement programs. oops...

Re: Thanks to Aussie and Canadian Fire Fighters

I am an ex-firefighter in California and had more than my share of fighting big wildland fires. But what we have now makes my worst fires look tiny.

When I drive around I see brush up to houses !!!!! And still do.
Damm get some defensable space people.
I had peices of peoples houses ( foil from fiberglass insulation ) and burnt pages from books landing on my property 8 miles as the crow flies from the 2017 Santa Rosa fire.

This is the third time in 4 years that I have been down wind of a major fire.

I thank everyone that comes to help, but also curse the people that refuse to make their houses safer from fire. They make is worse for everyone ... I am tired of breathing your house as it burns.

Re: Thanks to Aussie and Canadian Fire Fighters

In Australia we greatly appreciated the help given by others. It was a disaster that many claimed was caused by climate change but the fires were initiated by lightening. The Murdoch press continuously claimed that the majority of the fires were due to arsonists and that there was no climate change occurring.
A lengthy detailed analysis concluded that not one single fire of any consequence was started by arsonists (a small fire was started by some young girls). Nearly all the many fires were started by lightening, not arsonists at all.
I have seen on US news sites that some parts of the US press is making the same claims that arsonists are responsible. Be wary.

Thanks also to the Americans and New Zealanders amongst others who came down under to help us last southern fire season
Dangerous work by very brave people
We lost three American aerial firefighters when their plane crashed while fighting fires early this year
