When a black gang in Trinidad kidnapped and murdered a woman, her family didn't bother with the police. They called in the Italian mafia. The mafia proceeded to grab and interrogate one of the kidnappers, then used that information to exterminate all the gang members AND their families within a few days. It got the message across.

I read on another forum that two bodies have now been recovered. Unfortunately, there was no link to this update. If I can find one, I will post it.

Condolences to their loved ones. An abhorrent murder, so incredibly sad.

I never meet Ralph and Kathy but my father used to speak highly of them.

Obviously a crime not much different than an urban car jacking and then presumably murder.

Would be interested in the Italian mafia reference. Do you just text them? Or how does one "call them in"?

That is horrible. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family.

The couple reported missing on their way to the Bahamas that was found in the Dry Tortugas is unrelated to this thread. That was a different incident.

Re: Simplicity: Yacht Owners Feared Dead After Escapees Recaptured (Grenada)

The problem in Grenada and the Caribbean generally is that the US department of Homeland security are deporting some pretty nasty people back to their countries of Origin. These countries are struggling with the resources to control the problem they represent.

Whilst I was in Grenada, two of these people tried to hijack their boat and when that failed, they took the wife of a friend ashore and beat her and raped her before letting her go

They were apprehended eventually but the case took over a year to get heard because they were up for trial on so many other cases.
Grenada, in my view, is one of the safest islands in the area and these incidents are uncommon but that knowledge doesn't help if you're the victim.

Maybe election year is good time to lobby for an approach that helps the issue, even if its more funding to help these islands cope with the strain of constraining these violent people

My thoughts are with the unfortunate relatives and friends of the missing couple.

This could well be similar to the case in Palmyra in 1974 , where an elderly couple were murdered for their yacht, and the murderers returned to Honolulu where friends of the elderly couple recognized the vessel, tipped off the FBI, and the murderers (a couple) were arrested, tried and jailed...

The evidence surfaced years later with the remains of one of the victims, who had been placed in a trunk, and thrown into the ocean, and was discovered by a sailor visiting Palmyra..

Re: Simplicity: Yacht Owners Feared Dead After Escapees Recaptured (Grenada)

These were one of our best friends that we met in Fort Pierce Florida around 2017. They were there every year after as we worked together on their boat and he help us on our boat. You would never meet better people like them. This was such a major loss for us to see them living their dream and then have it taken from them. We can never get them back. Just so you know, both Genada and St. Vincent facebook cruisers group were asked by my wife to join so we could ether help the family or help them look for this couple and both groups denied my wife access to both groups. Sounds to me this was a coverup in the making because of posable tourist disruption.

Vigilante justice mixed with race-baiting. What could possibly go wrong?

Is justice and the truth that offensive to you?

Well, I didn't think it needed to be said, but apparently it does. "vigilante justice" is an oxymoron. It is not justice. It is retribution. Old Testament or Sharia "law". There is no reason whatsoever, other than race baiting, to cite the presumed racial background of the alleged perps.

The USA has a long and ugly history of lynchings perpetrated on minorities. It is ugly, it is wrong, and it is not justice. One needs to be mindful of that history in advocating for "vigilante justice" on "black gangs".
