What is this gofundme tip which adds $30 to the total.???
Happy to make a contribution but this puts the PayPal 4% in the shade.
Fred.. If you set up a PayPal account and PM me your info I'll take that route and send it direct.

It's optional, at least it was for me.

Not for me.. it was just added to the total with no Yes/No option..
Like you I've a small pension, willing and happy to help in my small way if I can but.. there's enough Charities/Organisation's getting fat on misery and a 15% surcharge for my contribution is over the top.

Very strange ... so we're all being presented with different views based on where we are . I was presented with a default 15% "tip," but I was easily able to change that to go higher, or lower.

I hope this doesn't get in the way of the cause. I know you would be the first to help, but I agree, a 15% add-on is unreasonable. I certainly didn't give it.

Good luck Judy & Fred! The best part of any community is the mutual help afforded to each other, and you have led the pack! So least I/we can do is give a little back.

ps. Default 15% GoFundMe tip cranked down to 2%, worked OK

Re: Cruising Forum Member in Distres-Judy Jensen

Fred,

So sorry to hear this. I can go over the medical treatment with you to make sure everything is being done, and give some suggestions about treatment. (I am an ICU doctor near Philadelphi, PA).

My advice would be to engage MedJet and fly her home immediately. If she is still intubated (on mechanical ventilation), and not on too many pressors (medications to keep her blood pressure stable), it's not much risk at all.

Thank you for sharing you story so clearly. That must be hard. We too struggle with these insurance issues. I had not contemplated the possibility of a MedJet transport not being viable.

Re: Cruising Forum Member in Distres-Judy Jensen

So sorry to hear that. I doubt you know me but you did come close to t-boning my boat at race start in Punta de Mita back in the day.

My wife also had a cardiac problem years ago that stopped our planned circ trip in Raitea. She was on life support for over 2 weeks but God gave her back to me and although she has not fully recovered I'm happy to cruise where I can

We'll pray for your wife ... I can just imagine what you're going thru...we sent a few bucks but you will need more than money.... courage. All the best

Yes, very weird!
I could select PayPal and I could reset the 'tip' to 0%.

FWIW, I'm happy to support Fred and Judy but not happy to 'tip' GFM.

I am so sorry to hear this Fred. I wish you both strength now and I am sending along a prayer and hope that you'll reach your goal to cover all the expenses very soon.

Wottie,
Which link gives the PayPal option..
I can only do PayPal as my Bank blocks many online payments with the many online scams these days... I've tried 3 times using Debit and CC with the same result.
This is what comes up for me.

I wonder if the availability of PayPal is location specific or mobile vs PC. I just used the PayPal option myself (from a PC) to throw a few bucks in the pot.
