Make our dream a reality.... Looking to buy a Bluewater boat.

Hey everyone. My old CF account went lost so I'm starting fresh.

Wife and I went for the leap of selling the house and moving aboard. We are currently in an apartment outside of Seattle WA and have been looking all over for the right boat.

Looking for 45-60 ft less than 80k need 3 cabins or two cabins and a bunk. Have two kiddos and a wifey. I'm pretty experienced in marine trades and am up for repowering if need be. I've spent weeks looking and have found a couple boats worth checking out.

If you have something please let me know!

45-60 feet will be challenging on 80K especially 50+ at that budget

I’d love to see what 60 foot for 80K looks like

I like this one. Damage to the aft rail and custom built so you'd have to take a very close look at everything. Other than that it has what you listed.

And why, oh why, is there no sail inventory listed seller?? It's a sailboat. Sigh.

I'm sure he would take a look at the Nauti if it wasn't almost TWICE HIS BUDGET.

Too bad you can't get into Canada. There's a lovely, steel, 45' Amazon, "Parallel Dreams" fully loaded for offshore here in Lund at Jack's Boatyard. She can probably be had for $60k Cdn or about $45US. She appears to be in great shape.

I'd buy her in a heartbeat if I didn't already have Scorpius.

Looks like a great option for the OP (he needs to get more realistic about his budget) Anything he finds in that size for under 80k is sure to need another 80k and six months to get refitted. Aside from no sails listed, those teak decks scare the hell out of me. The boat was apparently owned by someone deceased, hence the estate sale which would explain the limited system details.

Re: Make our dream a reality.... Looking to buy a Bluewater boat.

Lots of marriages have ended while cruising
I suggest finding a nice boat to sail and live aboard locally. Remember it’s a boat not a house so you need to develop minimalist life style. As a live aboard My Motto was if it doesn’t fit (Storage) on the boat we don’t need it. That will include clothes. You will have lots of fun and develop great memories. You have kids which means you will have to develop your home schooling skills. Getting everyone used to living on the boat in close quarters will help prepare the family for extended cruising.
Unless you are flush with cash at best you will have Forward and aft cabins, one for a sail locker and other supplies, the other for you and your wife. Your kids will sleep on the quarter births.
It might sound negative but there are many families who have done this and had or are having a blast.
Boats need maintenance and repairs which requires cash. Make sure you have enough cash on hand to replace your boats most expensive items. Most of the cruisers I know actually traveled back to the states to work while cruising. One other had a job that only required a reliable internet connection (they divorced). Follow your dreams, better than living with what if’s .
