Re: 38' Foam Core Harris Trimaran for Sale
[QUOTE=Wingsn1;3377630] For Sale : Robert Harris 38' foam core Trimaran
Location : Yarmouth , Maine
Email : wingsn1@protonmail.com
*** ASKING $26,000 OBO ***
All hulls are in great condition, made of Airex foam core weighing 8500 pounds
Greetings Multihuller,
Some questions please:
1. can you advise what is the sheave box imbeded in the deck/cabin top near mast foot, starboard side? For dagger board/CB/lifting keel?
2. What are the metal objects attached to the aft edges of the forward aka, near the shroud chainplates?
3. What are the bolt heads/nuts/bolt ends that appear in the akas approx. four places? Not sure what I see there (resolution).
4. The referenced survey mentions several items to check/repair: rod thru aka welded to chainplate which I do not see in photos, crack in bulkhead near aka, and several other items. It would be helpful if you could address these for the forum.
5. What is the draft min./max of Wings?
6. What is the payload capability? Is the weight figure the loaded displacement or the "light displacement"?
7. No diesel in crate as offered previously? Did you plug the shaft log?
I would see for myself, but I do not own an airplane and it is a longish drive from VA.
TIA,
Jim

From the survey : The forward aka had stainless rods welded to chainplates, through the aka with a link plate, tightened with nuts over the top.
Originally the boat was thought out to be demountable however it has been fiberglassed over , the rods add additional support but are not load bearing or necessary.
4. The referenced survey mentions several items to check/repair: rod thru aka welded to chainplate which I do not see in photos, crack in bulkhead near aka, and several other items. It would be helpful if you could address these for the forum.
The rod as mentioned above is not load bearing. I haven't found a crack in the bulkhead or any other structural damage, just little tasks that need to be finished as every other boat.
5. What is the draft min./max of Wings?
3'6" , found in the survey.
6. What is the payload capability? Is the weight figure the loaded displacement or the "light displacement"?
The survey doesn't say however I'd say its in the cruising trimaran range due to the hull shape.
7. No diesel in crate as offered previously? Did you plug the shaft log?
I would see for myself, but I do not own an airplane and it is a longish drive from VA.
The new inboard diesel is in the shop & can be installed , however the boat was purchased without it being included. Shaft is still on.
TIA,
Jim

Thanks for the response.
I had previously read the survey, but saw no mention of the sheave box mentioned in my question number 1. It is not obvious to me the purpose, though I can think of several possibilities. Was thinking that perhaps it was for a dagger board that had been removed or for under deck leads for halyards, or for multipurchase halyards. I see line still going to the sheave box, so still in use? Inquiring minds want to know.
TIA,
Jim

Hi Jim , I missed this one.
The sheave box is for the centerboard.

Re: 38' Foam Core Harris Trimaran for Sale
Someone hurry up and buy this boat before I do! Ha ha.
Wingsn1: make sure you are listing on sailboatlistings.com and the following places:
https://www.google.com/search?q=sail...obile&ie=UTF-8
Also, spring is only just popping. A little patience to May/June when the boat market starts back up in New England.
The boat market is still red hot.
