1980 Pearson 323 + (Dinghy & Outboard) $26,500
The price is negotiable, but let’s start it at $26,500
For instance if you don’t want the Hydrovane I can take it off and sell it separately
I bought Enchantress in 2010 and have sailed more than 30,000 NM. I started in Miami and went north to New York via the ICW. I then trucked the boat over to California and left for Hawaii a few years later and kept going. I sailed around the world from 2016 - 2023. I’m returning to Southern California and will be looking to sell the boat. I am planning to be located at Safe Harbor Marina in San Diego, which was called Chula Vista Marina.
I’m selling the boat because it’s time for my next adventure. I know this boat inside and out and every time I thought about buying a new one, there was no need or reason. I would gladly spend time going over all the systems and details of Enchantress with the buyer because I think it’s important for a smooth and enjoyable transition, since all boats are one of a kind to some degree.
I have been actively using this boat so everything is in working order. Enchantress would happily sail to Hawaii now. There are a few cosmetic jobs and a few “wear & tear” items that I would replace before another circumnavigation.
The boat comes with a lot of equipment some of it listed here (More listed in the images)
Also, Enchantress has intermediate stays and structural reinforcement in places to make the hull stronger, along with an upgraded bowsprit.

Hi Theway,
My name is Martin. My offer is $24,000.00.
Please price up the items, a few cosmetic jobs and a few “wear & tear” items to fix.
A few questions, would you rectify the jobs on hand if you were taking the boat to Mexico as a live aboard for several months?
Alternatively, you undertake the few cosmetic jobs and the few “wear & tear” and we adjust my offer to cover your costs.
Do we have an anon-binding deal until such time as you have reassurance from me that I am serious and will buy your boat?
Kind regards,
Martin

Probably better to negotiate/communicate by clicking on his user name and then send private message.

Hello Martin,
$24,000 sounds acceptable to me....
The cosmetic jobs and items would be
Waterline strip: $30
Crack in wood handrail: $Not sure
Small crack in station base: $50
Some items that work fine but I would consider updating
Masthead light: $100
Maxprop Skrew kit: $25
Hydrovane Plastic knobs: $16,$8
This boat in its current condition could definitely handle several months in Mexico.
At this time I don't think I will have the time to make the fixes myself, but if you purchase the boat soon after I arrive in Chula Vista, I can definitely help you get familiar with the boat and possibly help out with some of these fixes.

Hi Austin,
Your cover of the boat Enchantress is quite comprehensive which doesn't leave an opening for many questions to do with the vessel's hull and contents. However, I have a few:
Some of my questions may have already been covered.
Can you please add to the hull and deck materials?
The standing room in the galley and cockpit?
In the rarity of the Hydrovain failing what backup do we have?
Have you arrived at Safe Harbor Marina or are you still cruising?
When was the last time the boat was out of the water for maintenance?
Are your paper charts, plotter, electronics and radios up to date?
A survey, probably we will need one and insurance.
My intention, all being well would be to take the boat to Mexico and live aboard. How complicated would this process be involving a change of ownership?
In fair conditions, how many NM can the boat travel on a full tank of diesel?
On your world cruise, some stop-off points are far apart, how well have you managed on a tank full of fresh water supply without going empty?
I must commend warmly your housekeeping.
Kind regards,
Martin Dowling

Certainly....
Can you please add to the hull and deck materials?
The hull is solid laminate of hand-laid fiberglass and polyester resin, very strong. The deck is of sandwich construction, with a core of end-grain balsa between two skins of fiberglass. This site has some good info
https://goodoldboat.com/pearson-323/
The standing room in the galley and cockpit?
About 6ft 3inches, I'm about 6'2, partly why I have liked this boat
In the rarity of the Hydrovain failing what backup do we have?
This is kinda complicated, It depends on how hydrovane fails, rudder?, wind mechanism? There is always the main steering rudder. There are also the two tiller pilots.
Have you arrived at Safe Harbor Marina or are you still cruising?
I am planning to arrive on Tuesday the 11th, I might have to stay at the police dock a night to sort out paper work and insurance
When was the last time the boat was out of the water for maintenance?
April 2023, I service the injectors, the transmission, and put in a new cutless bearing. The bottom paint was done February in Panama
Are your paper charts, plotter, electronics and radios up to date?
I do not have paper chart, and the charts on my phone are usually up to date. I'm not sure of particular version of plotter charts, because I rarely use them
A survey, probably we will need one and insurance.
Yup, I am sorting this out currently NAMS or SAMS
My intention, all being well would be to take the boat to Mexico and live aboard. How complicated would this process be involving a change of ownership?
I think it is pretty standard, we could hire someone to facilitate the sale if its worth the value. I will cancel the TIP in Mexico which you will need to get on arrival to Mexico
In fair conditions, how many NM can the boat travel on a full tank of diesel?
I calculate 100NM per 10gallons of fuel. There are 2 15gal inboard tanks, and I carry jugs for longer distances
On your world cruise, some stop-off points are far apart, how well have you managed on a tank full of fresh water supply without going empty?
There are 2 16gal fresh water tanks, but I rarely use them. I carry jugs inside the boat I have 5 5gal jugs, and this can last me a long time. It will definitely depend on your personal water consumption.

Re: 1980 Pearson 323 + (Dinghy & Outboard) $26,500
Hi Austin,
To familiarise myself in theory with your TIF out and mine into Mexico, I have read the highlights of the following 3 articles but am not exactly sure in practice how the process will work. Is it at this point where it is prudent to employ the services of an agent to handle the process for your exit and my entry process, at the cost of about $60.00?
https://www.expatinsurance.com/artic...-permit-mexico
https://www.latitude38.com/lectronic...ation-process/
https://gettingfr.ee/2019/03/31/tips...golden-ticket/
We are moving petty fast making the sale transaction. I'm trying to distinguish what goes and what stays on the boat. Points of equipment we have talked about so far are items, jugs etc., following the sale will remain on the boat, is this correct?
Apart from what are your personal items, phone and personal clothes and other belongings of comfort, crewing or safety items such as wetsuits and harnesses, fishing gear etc., will these, if any remain on the boat?
Are there items, specialist computer programs to aid navigation and possible computer used for planned maintenance, renewables in use on the boat?
I hope things go smoothly for you going through the police dock.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,
Martin Dowling

I will be canceling the TIP in Mexico today, so that the boat can get a new one on arrival.
All boat related items will stay on the boat, jugs included, fuel and water. All other boat gear will also remain on the boat. This includes things like Iridium GO and 2 SIM Cards ($800 new), Harness, jacklines, EPIRBs, lots of tools, Dremel, Bosch drill, Wetsuit sure, if it fits and you want it. I have a pole spear, that I used once, but no fishing rods. Guide books and Maintenance books. Spare lines, shore power cord... There is really a lot of items that come with this boat. I can even leave the 2 paddle boards if you'd like.
I can leave one of my computers if you need one, it has some mapping software on it and I think it has openCPN with charts, if not we can add it. The boat has 300watts of solar going to 4 Full River AGM group 6 batteries.
I hope so to....
Maybe you can send me a private message with your Facebook or WhatsApp number. If you don't have those, we can move this conversation to private messages here if that's ok.

Hi Austin,
Welcome back to Terraferma.
I appreciate the extras that you have offered to leave on the boat and look forward to receiving them with thanks.
From what I've learnt about visitors bringing items into Mexico, one computer is allowed per person. I could be wrong, but will just have to wait and see.
As our conversation has seemed to move, Yes, I have WhatsApp on my phone, shall I leave the number here for you, is this the new private thread you mentioned earlier?
