Sailing to Paraguay?!

A (so far) theoretical question:


is it possible to access Paraguay from the Ocean with a sail boat (30-40 ft)?


Google maps shows Parana River connecting Buenos Aires to Paraguay.


What are the major issues (if at all possible)?


Is motoring required most of the time? Or would it be possible to drop an anchor when wind isn't good enough?

i spent time in asuncion maybe 9-10 years ago....


fwiw, there is the boat culture.. but it was more riverboats and barge barco types

...i cant really recall seeing decent sized masts. (just going by memory)



the reason may simply be because of the distance.. that will be similar to a great loop type journey... with more or less zero facilities to rely on





i believe you already knew the rio paraguay is navigable (no dams) ..i can offer that there is for sure there is at least 1 bridge crossing it back then(no clue on clearance)
