Caribbean Drought?

I came across this article on gCaptain.

Towing Giant Bags of Water To Fight Drought – gCaptain

It made me wonder what the actual observed conditions are as we are sort of heading in that direction.

Is a Watermaker in the offing?

Caribbean Drought?

I can tell you that SW Ga is in the middle of a drought, it has not rained any since the hurricane, that brought only little rain. It is the longest spell of no rain in recorded history.
It is supposed to rain this week.
I doubt it's our worst drought, just the longest period we have had with no rain.

While a water maker is not necessary, it is definitely a nice to have. You can purchase water everywhere in the Caribbean. There is a drought. I have a water maker and run it everyday I can when in the islands.

Re: Caribbean Drought?

Many years, bACK WHEN I WAS CRUISING THE Caribbean, we used to see large tugs pulling water barges from PR to Antiqua and other islands because there was always a water shortage. When the islands started building watermakers I think that stopped.

Re: Caribbean Drought?

Even though you can buy water anyplace in the Caribbean we put a 20 gallon watermaker on out boat and never had to buy water in 11 years of cruising. It made life a little easier.

I am locked inland just outside of Charlotte in SC and we are in a drought. People are still watering their precious lawns though with no penalty.....
