Windy app

Does ANYONE like the app re-design? I think its awful and the previous design was good.

Re: Windy app

no, because we were used to the old design and we all hate change.
BUT I can see how it might be better for new users to navigate the labyrinth of choices.

Re: Windy app

Are we talking about Windy.app (blue logo) or Windy.com (red logo)?

Re: Windy app

I much prefer words to images. Not thrilled with the change. Fortunately I use the web version and that hasn't changed, yet.

Re: Windy app

I never saw the "blue" one. 4.8 stars on the Play store. Usually when a knock-off comes along trying to trade on the original's good name, it's much poorer quality.

Anyone use it? Is it really as good as the original "red" app?

I don't see any major changes to the original yet. They do seem to juggle things around a bit sometimes, and add new layers, but the core functionality seems the same.

Re: Windy app

I have seen (Android 13) that when I reboot my phone/tablet I get a notification that the app is trying to update a widget (I have none of the widgets 'active')

Well, just fired up my new Android phone and, yup, I'm now getting that notification about trying to update the widget, too.

Re: Windy app

I don't see any changes to Windy in the past 3 years. It's a good weather service and I prefer the ECMWF model.

Re: Windy app

I fixed it but I can't find the directions again. The problem is the permissions have to be set for Windy to use the GPS. It has to be set to "all the time".

Hope that helps.
