The Discover thing was a joke. I haven't even had a TV in a few years. Yes I agree the media is all about sensationalizing thing and keeping us scared.

How many did they miss in 1890 - 1899 decade? They didn't have satellites then. Many tropical storms/hurricanes never hit land.

4.
I've extrapolated that figure from the existing data. and then decided not to include my thumb (for statistical adjustment reasons).

Here's a source of historical records of all Atlantic tropical storms sorted by decade, from 1851 through 2008. It's presented in both graphical format (with tracks) and in tabular form. The number of storms in each decade are tallied by category and noted above the tracks image.
Atlantic Region - Atlantic Projection - Climatology of Caribbean Hurricanes - 1851-2008
So, there's the raw data. What's the conclusion as far as cruising is concerned?

Negative, your source is likely outdated. More recent forecasts (as well as one of the deepest solar minima on record) indicate that we will have a below average solar cycle this bout around. Furthermore, the solar cycle will not peak until 2013 (not next year).

So no, it's not time to invest in the sextant manufacturing industry.....

But isn't the world ending in 2012 anyway.

That's the point...the conclusion is they didn't count all the tropical storms and hurricanes before satellite technology because they were offshore and many were not observed to be counted. Therefore it is difficult to compare pre and post satellite technology numbers.

somewhere there is a dealer and a network that are the supply chain. The addict is the end user supporting the whole thing. Shes in jail on bail and in rehab sad. Can the drug suppliers maintain the supply if the weather gets worse through that in so were on topic. there is a lot of hollering about weather change and lohan. It appears that there is a weather shift maybe its not man made but we are seeing warmer waters receding ice and actors on drugs. I ll go to work tomorrow and next weekend will sail again maybe Ill need to reef if the weather has changed

Haha!
She posted a $ 300,000 bail and is out now.
Well that probably breaks a few records in terms of "Most expensive night clubbing.. EVER!"
Speaking of Warming etc. I saw something interesting recently involving the planet Venus. There was some article or lecture recently that talked about how it has now become evident that Venus is smack middle in its own repercussions of global warming. Mind you this is obviously NOT man made global warming. Which makes it all that more intriguing.
I have to read more about it, but the little bit I read about Venus's weather patterns was really interesting. Im going to poke around a bit for the lecture I found.
Enjoy your sunday everyone.
