Marine weather forecasting

Hello. Today we have a whole bunch of data available for weather. And we have incredible software to help us.
Like all technologies they have there limits and often those limits are user knowledge.

I have just complete a Basic Marine weather forecast training.
This training teaches us to understand and read ocean surface analysis charts, wave and wind charts.
I can now only by looking at a surface analysis chart know the direction of the wind and even predict its strength.
I now understand wave charts and what to look for or avoid.
In short, we as sailors spend big money on training for diesel engine repaires, SSB radios, GPS, and gear to help us but may lack the fundamental understanding of what these tools do or can do.

I have know idea whats available around the world but a do recommend you seek such training if you don't have it.
