In a bonded system the rig is in
electrical contact with the
engine block, the block is in
electrical contact with the
transmission, the
transmission with the prop shaft and the prop shaft with the prop. Therefore, a zinc hanging over the side but wired to the rig will protect the prop and shaft. Not very effectively perhaps, but it will
work. This arrangement should be used as additional protection only. It should not be relied upon as the sole means of protection from
corrosion.
