Anybody had any experience with" Valve Regulated Sealed Lead Acid" VRSLA batteries over conventional vented batteries in housebank situation?

There are tons of posts on this subject on this board, the SailNet board, and the SSCA board, among others.

Look for AGM batteries.

No - VRLA (also called Recombinant) stands for valve regulated lead acid and is the designation for maintenance-free acid batteries, which could be either Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) or Gelled Electrolyte type (which some might prefer to differentiate with the term “sealed lead acid”).

May I suggest you read the attached link to an article by Calder on the latest VRLA technologies which are going beyond standard AGM/Gels. Depending on your situation...they may be of interest to you...if not, you'll learn something about all batts!

Have you seen the new Firefly batteries? Not yet on the open market, but looks like it will be VERY good. They are made for long haul trucks so the cost should be coming down.

See them at:
