Re: Using old Volvo Engine loom 14 pairs for 230V possible

@Statistical #30
From ISO 13297-2020:
Quote:
11.5 A separate DC equipotential conductor shall be connected from the metallic case or chassis of the inverter or inverter/charger to the main grounding/earthing point or its bus, and be of an amperage rating equal to the DC positive conductor. This conductor shall not be connected to the DC negative at the inverter or inverter/charger.

The wording implies there will be both only a single ground conductor and the DC positive connection will be made with only a single conductor. What if there isn't a DC positive conductor but DC positive conductors? What if there is no sufficiently large single grounding conductor available. Now someone can say well it doesn't explicitly prohibit multiple conductors but it also does specifically use the singular. That leave is vague and open eneded which is problematic.

Personally I would probably just use two conductors of sufficient combined ampacity but I am not sure the regs specifically allow that.

In an ideal world it would be clearly stated like as an example:
Quote:
A separate DC equipotential conductor(s) shall be connected from the metallic case or chassis of the inverter or inverter/charger to the main grounding/earthing point or its bus, and be of an amperage rating equal to the DC positive conductor(s). This conductor shall not be connected to the DC negative at the inverter or inverter/charger. If the DC positive connection is made using two or more conductors the ampacity of the grounding conductor must equal the combined ampacity. If necessary two or more grounding conductors of at least 50mm2 can be used in parallel to satisfy this requirement.
