Solar Controller to Battery

I have two 50 watt panels and two Genasun 5 amp controllers. I am getting ready to install the system and was reading the instructions from Genasun where it states that the controller should be within 12" of the battery. I had not planned on this. I think the reason is that the Genasun controller has an internal temperature sensor so it has to be close the the battery. I had planned for the controllers to be within a few feet of the battery bank. It is a little hard for me to imagine that 8 amps from the panels is going to cause my batteries to overheat. I do have temp sensors connected for the alternator regulator and rarely used AC charger.

Re: Solar Controller to Battery

The temp sensor is Likly used for voltage compensation.

2’ vrs 8” isn’t going to change much. Just don’t put in a different room with a way different temp. Ie batteries in 60f bilge and controller in 150f engine room.
