Male fighting appendages, like their antlers.

All early deer had them, larger deer evolved with bigger antlers and atrophied canines, some small species kept the canines.


Incidentally, they are a bit like snake fangs in that the deer can control their angle.

Well your doin'pretty good so far....AND....totally unassisted.
No bugger but you connected canines with antlers with fangs.......
But Stu, you are probably this forums QUINTESSENTIAL font of extra-cirricular wisdom & knowledge, which seems to be invariably useful & generally appreciated.
Please don't stop the deviations because as well as being useful you are also a funny bugger..mostly.
