Northern lights 6KW won’t start

I’m at sea and my generator won’t start and I need it to make my passage. It is a Northern Lights 6KW. Model M673LD3.3.
It is five years old and has 2500 hours on it.

When I try to start it, the dials in the display don’t light up and I get no solenoid click.

On the generator there’s a set of switches and a red button marked fuse. When I pushed gently on it, it gave and there was a spark and a small puff of smoke. Now when I push on it, the room lights dim briefly.

If the red thing is the fuse, how do I change it? The pdf says it is DC. Photo attached.

Thanks.

Re: Northern lights 6KW won’t start

Thanks Gord.
Am itinerant mechanic aided me in Luperon, DR. The problem was that some wires had lost their insulation due to abrasion. So he heat shrinked those and then found that the shorting had ejected a relay which he snapped back in. He also put a hose around the wires so it doesn’t happen again.
Thanks for the pdfs!
