New AGM battery, any initial maintenance?

Hello all. I picked up a 79ah AGM from West Marine to replace my lead acid. This is my first AGM, is there anything I need to do before swapping the battery and reconnecting everything? I have a very simple electrical system on my boat, with a 100W solar panel running through a new Victron MPPT. I'll be sure to change to battery type on the Victron to AGM. Should I let the battery sit on the trickle charger over night to make sure it's at 100%. The battery came with no instructions or documentation, I want to make sure I don't mess it up!

Nope, it will be just fine. As I'm sure your aware, AGM like to be fully charged periodically so if your boats not in constant use the 100w panel should handle the charging just fine.

Re: New AGM battery, any initial maintenance?

I expect that you purchased a Factory Activated battery, which is filled with electrolyte, sealed, and charged [to ±85%] at the factory.
These batteries, if not used within a month, must be maintained.
If the open circuit voltage drops below 12.4V, these batteries must be boosted up to full charge, of ±12.8V [initially up to 16V, let it rest for ±2 hrs - see manufacturer’s spec'].
