External tank for suitcase genny?

Hi,

I'm considering getting a small portable generator (eu2000?).

I like the idea of just having one single gasoline tank, the external tank for the dinghy engine. It'd be neat to just plug that into the genny when we wanted to use it.

I'm curious if anyone has ever fitted a tank like this to a honda genny (or similar)? Some small engines use pulsa-jet carbs that are built onto the top of the integral gas tank, and I'm thinking that's probably the case here, which means I'm out of luck.

I use the Dinghy fuel tank, get another fitting of course, and you do not need the squeeze bulb.
The external tank works on the Honda because it has a fuel pump, it has a fuel pump because a lot of it's tank extends below the carburetor, not many "suitcase" generators have a fuel pump, and those without one make an external tank problematic as it would have to be gravity fed.

I found when I used the Honda, best place for it was in the Dinghy, no CO there and no noise in the boat. Be advised though that many do not like the things in quiet anchorages

Yes, there are ways to make or buy fuel lines that would connect the Honda to an external tank. I find mine very quiet but I place mine on the aft deck with the exhaust pointing towards the stern. Since it is on the deck, the vibration of the generator makes the boat act like a sound box. Place a thick mat under it and the decrease in noise is significant..
