That won’t work… unless he installs lightning rods on top of the masts. Yes, he does. This is the same system as used for protecting buildings. I never saw boats with lightning rods on their masts…

I’ve followed Stan Honey’s recommendations (see article below), Headstay, Mast, Shroud, Stanchion, etc to Keel. (And solar panels to arch, and arch to keel.)

And VHF to blocking capacitor, else your VHF and masthead antenna are grounded to the mast!
