pirate Dazed and Confused

New boat has nice big battery bank, Balmar 100/60 alternator, and Air X wind genny. Also an Adler Barbour reefer, and 10 amp AC charger.

Help, I need the big picture while I read up on this stuff:

I have a battery charge monitor that generally reads 100%. So far I've let the wind gen/reefer/charger run all the time mostly. Once I left the AirX off and the reefer ran the batts down to "Lo". Once the monitor flashed "Full" , "Full", "Full", "Full", "Full", "Full", "Full", ... .

What am I shooting for here?

Hi there,

Seems to me like you ought to leave the Air eX on! It has a regulator, it will not fry your battery bank. Having "Full, full, full!!" batteries is a wonderful thing.

If you don't have a copy yet, get hold of "The 12 Volt Doctor" if you're inexperienced with boat electrical systems. That should help.

Ann

Thanks Ann. I have several text-type ele books but no big picture. I've owned the 12v book, unread, in the past. Will get today if possible. Thanks. This new fangled equipment is all new. I came over with Magellan.
