Battery monitor showing empty charge controller showing full.p

Victron BMV700 battery monitor showing batteries at 11.4v solar charge controller showing batteries at 14.5v so charge controller not dumping amps into the bank. Charge controller is an Epever tracer 40 amp model connected to 500amps of solar panels and a 400AH house bank and 100AH starter battery. Any ideas?

Re: Battery monitor showing empty charge controller showing full.p

Well I found the fault, inline 25a fuse from the Charge controller to the house bank was not blown but had burned somehow. Was seeing 12v+ from each individual battery on my multi meter but only 7v at the charge controller battery terminals so I knew something was amiss. Dropped the fuse down to 20a and replaced the fuse holder.

Re: Battery monitor showing empty charge controller showing full.p

A "burned fuse" without being blow is a symptom of a high resistance connection between the fuse and its holder. The resistance produced heat even at currents well below the rated current flow of the fuse. It can get more than hot enough to start a fire, and it is NOT the fault of the fuse or of a fuse that is too large.

This is typical of a a LOT of cheap fuse holders out there, and/or one that has been exposed to water and is showing corrosion.

For ATO or AFC blades style fuses, 20 Amps should be the MAXIMUM used in an inline fuse holder, higher than that you should switch to a Mega fuse or a proper terminal block fuse holder.
