Question Ample power eliminator - without headboard

I have an Ample Power Eliminator on a boat I have just bought: it's to handle charge to the charging battery once the house bank has come up to voltage.

I've checked the manual for wiring connections and it's connected OK, however, the manual suggests that there should be a second part plugged into the 'terminal block', and there's not one. There's a multi-pin header with a bit of tape over it, the tape looks like it's been there ever since the unit was installed.

There's a green LED that has different flash sequences (which I've not yet figured out) ... and I haven't been able to ascertain whether it's working as intended (the house batteries are shot and the charging cycle is all over the place).

My question for the forum is whether an Ample Power Eliminator can work properly without the extra piece plugged on the top? Attached a photo of mine.

Re: Ample power eliminator - without headboard

This is a few years down the road. The flashes are 3 sec on 1 off means batter voltage is disconnected from battery to be charged. 6 sec on 6 sec off means bad temp sensor. 3 sec on 3 sec off means over temp.
The installation manual. Didn’t not address the terminal block. I think that my have been for other applications.

Mine is showing 3 on 1 off. I’m wondering if there is an internal problem because it used to work and everything is wired correctly with all fuses good.

Do you still have it? Would you be willing to part with it? I’m happy with my installation and wish they were still around to at least answer questions.

Re: Ample power eliminator - without headboard

If anyone reading this post happens to have copies of the Ample Power Systems manuals, I'd would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to get copies. I need a copy of the manuals for (1) ESP - Energy - Security - Power monitor/controller; (2) The Eliminator; and (3) The Smart Regulator. Please post a reply or send a PM. Many thanks!
