Lagoon Sliding Door Glass

Does anyone happen to know if the glass is toughened or has a film applied to strengthen it ?

How easy would it we for an intruder to smash with something close to hand ?

Im wondering if there is any point in enhancing the locks ? If the glass is very fragile, I guess there is no point.

Every glass, except bullet-proof, is breakable... I am guessing the Lagoon glass is tempered (creates the spider-web-like pattern when it breaks but holds together). Boats flex a lot and put a lot of stress on glass. Usually, there is an etching on glass saying if it is tempered.

Re: Lagoon Sliding Door Glass

I'm thinking it's thermoplastic, i looked at a 440 in the Chesapeake called 'Black Pearl' 2 years ago, someone had removed a sticker from the sliding door with a paint scraper, the gouges were terrible so i'm thinking LEXAN ish?

There are no markings, i don't think they would have changed their materials, glass would be a lawsuit just waiting, my wife has bounced off the door a few times after cleaning, we then put the boat's name on the door, it catches your vision well.

Lagoon4us, you are probably right. I forgot that sailboats value low weight...

I was thinking of my ex-powerboats, which had tempered glass at the cockpit side. I had to change one glass panel because it was cut too tight on the frame and the glass fractured due to frame flexing.
