Here we go! New (to me) Boat!

Finally have a contract in place on a 2011 Lagoon 400 after a year and a half of searching and waiting! Pretty excited about it all. And overwhelmed maybe.
I am sure I will have a thousand questions, but for now I just felt the need to share!

Re: Here we go! New (to me) Boat!

Also, even though it has been discussed at length on other threads... Anyone want to recommend a good insurance broker or company? Boat US/Geico is an obvious one, but I wouldn't mind some other suggestions to get quotes. Boat is located in Texas and will likely stay coastal US for the remainder of 2020.

Congrats! It must be very exiting. When do you take delivery?

I am just in the process of selling my house and most everything in it, so I am starting to shop for a Lagoon myself. Maybe I'll see you at the dock!

Let us know how it goes.

IMHO I'm not sure Geico is a great option. I'd look for a multi-line agency that only deals in marine insurance.

Maritime Insurance International Inc is who we use and have been very happy with them.

Boat insurance costs and coverages seems to be quite different regionally. It will be in your best interest to ask around locally and to comparison shop your own area. Sometimes a good marine insurance broker can help in the search. But you still have to do your own comparisons.

Thats awesome! If all goes well at survey, I close in mid July. Can't wait!

We use Hugo Hanham at the Hanham Insurance Agency for our Lagoon 450F. He is an awesome broker, got us great coverage and way better overall insurance for the same as we were paying. Bonus he is such a nice guy too!!! Congrats on the New Cat!!

+1. We also depend on Hugo as our broker and he definitely is the best we've worked with. He will find you the insurance you need at the best price. Will work relentlessly on your behalf and yes he is a very nice guy.

Re: Here we go! New (to me) Boat!

My survey is later this week (trying to not get overly excited).
I am in Texas where there aren't an abundance of catamarans. I hired a great surveyor that was recommended by 2 different trusted friends, but I don't think he gets to survey lagoon boats all that often. Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for or ask him to pay special attention to?

Anyone have any lagoon 400 specific survey stories to share?

I am sure it will mostly be fine but I like to pre-inform myself on as many things as possible.
