450: 450 vs 46

I'm considering ordering one of the very last of the 450s instead of a new 46. Four cabin Sportop for a three year circumnavigation with family and friends. Expect to sell the boat after the trip. Am I nuts? Will the 450 plummet in value as the 46 enters the market? Will the 46 be a vastly superior voyaging boat compared to the 450? Advice please.

Why not buy an older second-hand 450 if you are worried about depreciation? As for vastly superior - they are both Lagoons. If you want to compare the 450 to something significantly different (not making any argument about whether it would be superior) - look at other brands.

There will be no 46 as a SporTop Version

We had the chance to swap to a 46.

No way the 450 is for us the better boat.

I think the SporTop is going to having enduring value and stay in high demand if Lagoon doesn’t introduce a 46S. There are many others out there like my wife and I who didn’t like the separation of the flybridge, extra windage, etc. The 460 has some nice improvements like the aft shifted mast and larger swim steps but I still wouldn’t swap out our SporTop for it.
