US/CAN - West Coast Crewing Position Wanted

Hi, looking to gain sailing experience from knowledgeable owner/skipper. I've completed ASA 101, 103, 104 this May/June 2013 and am scheduling additional charting/navigation courses. This summer and fall I'm interested in multiple coastal crewing opportunities for trips lasting up to two weeks. The San Juan / British Columbia area is especially appealing, but available for any west coast trips. I'm serious about developing sailing skills and learning the reason "why" it's done this way. This winter, warmer water locations would be preferred.

I realize this ad is not typical of most advertising crew, but I'm not looking to just travel. I'd rather limit my opportunities than have "a 3-hour tour."

Goals:
Improve paper charting and non-electronic navigation skills
Learn electronic charting/navigation systems (these are barely covered in courses I've taken)
Improve sail trim/configuration knowledge
Learn provisioning / food prep while underway tips and tricks
Become comfortable with all boat systems
Learn cruisers lingo, lifestyle and minimalist packing tips
Have fun
Listen to your stories and (ahem) lies

About Me:
Business Owner since 1989 (allowing this opportunity)
College degree and life-long learner
EMT-B (AZ-Current)
Avid outdoorsman (scuba, kayak, hiking, hunting and more)
Not looking to escape shore life
Little League coach/administrator
Youth Mentor
A touch of OCD in the clean department
No smoking, drinking or drugs
No Drama
Prefer breakfast and/or lunch prep
Willing to contribute to boat management and traditional crew supplies
Have inflatable offshore PFD, harness and tether and willing to obtain additional gear and clothing based on your knowledgeable recommendations
Can talk, but appreciate quiet times as well

About You:
Owner/skipper
3+ years experience (prefer west coast)
Non-smoker, light alcohol use, no drugs
Knowledgeable and able to communicate politely
A planner, no drama queen stuff
Well-maintained, safe, "clean" boat
No deviations from established plan without prior discussion and opportunity to depart
Lots of life experience and willing to share lessons gleaned from it

Thanks for reading and contact me if I haven't scared you off. - Caleb

Re: US/CAN - West Coast Crewing Position Wanted

Hello Caleb

My name is Teresa Nersesyan and my husband and I just bought a 52ft Cheoy Lee motor sail. The boat was in Olympia WA. My husband and 20 yrs old son want to sail it back ASAP to Long Beach, CA where we live. Are you available to crew. They need one more person. My husband is a licensed boat captain who has been sailing all his life. Are you available right away? If so could you fly to Seattle and meet them?

Please get back to me immediately if you are interested.
