Hi, looking to gain sailing experience from knowledgeable owner/skipper. I've completed
ASA 101, 103, 104 this May/June 2013 and am scheduling additional charting/navigation courses. This summer and fall I'm interested in multiple coastal
crewing opportunities for trips lasting up to two weeks. The
San Juan /
British Columbia area is especially appealing, but available for any
west coast trips. I'm serious about developing sailing skills and
learning the reason "why" it's done this way. This
winter, warmer
water locations would be preferred.
I realize this ad is not typical of most advertising crew, but I'm not looking to just travel. I'd rather limit my opportunities than have "a 3-hour tour."
Goals:
Improve paper charting and non-electronic
navigation skills
Learn electronic charting/navigation systems (these are barely covered in courses I've taken)
Improve sail trim/configuration knowledge
Learn
provisioning /
food prep while underway tips and tricks
Become comfortable with all
boat systems
Learn cruisers lingo, lifestyle and minimalist packing tips
Have fun
Listen to your stories and (ahem) lies
