We have put together a team to compete in The King's Cup in Phuket,
Thailand this year -
charter boat is reserved. We will
charter a Sunsail Jeaneau 41 and crew is splitting the charter cost. We have 6 now and are looking to add 2 more crew.
Crew is responsible for 1/8 the charter fee, entry fee, accomodations (9 days - sleeping on the
boat possible but we aint tankering 1000 pounds of
water around) and travel to/from Phuket. This is not a paid spot so don't ask.
Sunsail is chartering out 6 identical
boats and we will sail in our own one design class as well as the overall class.
The ideal candidate is already in
Singapore as we will be practicing on a
Jeanneau 31 starting in September. I know there are Singaporean sailors on CF so hence the post. Will consider joiners from outside on
race week but expect not to be in critical crew positions,
helm, main, genny and bow as this will hopefully be a well oiled crew by the time we show up. Joiners can expect
mast, pit or rail duties.
This is not a
learning exercise and the successful candidate will be an experienced sailor. We will consider non-racers who are interested to seriously compete. We are a fun and experienced crew but will have our
game faces on during
race week. We aren't dropping all this cash to come in second. Our goal is to win our class and podium the overall class.
We'll definitely have fun at the social
events but will make our 730am wake up calls.
Please PM with brief sailing resume if interested.
PS - Fair warning - The big wild card is the King's
health. There are a lot of doom and gloom theories about
Thailand stability if the King passes. At this point we have no idea what will happen to charter
fees and entry
fees if something goes seriously wrong. The candidate must put 50% down now (~SGD1000) and 60% balance by mid-July.
