Crew Available: Looking for Transatlantic in Spring 2009

Ahoy,

I'm a recent university graduate now living in Germany. I intend to return to the states next spring-- hopefully as a crew member on a sailboat. I was hoping to find some advice here, both on the feasibility of this plan and how to approach it.

What you should know about me:
I have sailing experience, though not exstensive. Lots of dinghy racing, windsurfing, lake sailing, and some pacific coastal sailing on a 31' Pacific Seacraft. I'm in excellent shape, and a very strong swimmer with lifesaving and first-aid certifications. I'm personable and a hard worker.

What I'm looking for:
I want to sail back to the US next spring as a crew member on a sailboat leaving from basically anywhere in Europe. I can leave as soon as March, as late as June, and want to land anywhere in North America, the closer to NYC the better.

My questions:
How difficult is it to find such a position?
What is the best way to go about it?
Any other advice you may offer...

Thank you all!

Cheers,
Lincoln

There are many find crew sites, findcrew.net IIRC is one.

I have a boat that might be coming back about then.... But it will be leaving from Black Sea and headed to Antigua.

The OP was August 9, 2008, and the poster was looking for a crew slot last spring (March to June). I'm guessing he isn't still waiting to hear how to go about finding a crew position and is already back in the US.
