Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda

Hi Sailors,
S/V MARIGOT, a 42' Tartan, is ready to set sail to Bermuda on July 4th weekend. Could use one male or strong female crew with off shore experience to join us. Capt, Co-Capt and First Mate are all retired. Provisioning Officer of same vintage!
You may send brief sailing resume by PM.
Happy sails,
Dorothy

Hi, could we talk. I am in Annapolis and was mate on yacht delivery from Cape Town SA. Perhaps not available for this delivery, but in future definitely. R

Hi Robin,
you can reach me by "private message" PM on this site or try marigot81 at gmail dot com.

We are definitely leaving Galesville MD on Sunday July 3. Are you available then for a period of approximately 10 days? Can you provide the name of the vessel and captain you sailed with from Africa?

Re: Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda

Hello Dorthy,

I would like to toss my hat into the ring. I've got a mixed bag of sailing experience, most of it in Puget Sound WA., some open water but not a lot. I am available during that time period. I’m a good cook, clean and well-educated, some even think I’m funny. I’m female and fit, but not a strong as a young buck if strength is really what you need.

Hi Jeri,
No worries. you are dealing with seniors. the boat is 1981 vintage with manual winches.
What size boats have you sailed on? How many years? Can you crank in a head sail?

Re: Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda

I really wish that you had asked a little earlier. I have been looking for just such a trip for quite a while. I am gentle brute of a guy w/25 yrs of boat ownership behind me. But as a family man with a working wife I need a few months to set up that much time off from family obligations.

Please keep my phone number in case any future trips come up.

Re: Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda

Wish i could say we had a fabulous time....sailing was great and all crew enjoyed the excitement and the experience immensely!

However, as we left Cape Charles headed for blue water....engine problem and diagnosis led us to new Yanmar engine installation in Hampton, Virginia....then lost weather window. After 18 hours on new engine, found the installation was inadequate. In Wanchese NC on outer banks 2nd installation was necessary and then after five hours on that installation, we were towed into Oriental. Latest diagnosis is that there is a misalignment. Boat is on the hard!

May or may not attempt the trip in spring 2012.

Currently recuperating in New Bern, NC.
