What is the make on this prop? Why are you selling it? What shaft size is it fitted for?

Re: FEATHERING PROP-16" 3 Blade

1 INCH SHAFT. IT WAS ON THE BOAT WHEN I PURCHASED IT THIS SPRING; REQUIRED ADJUSTMENT & I HAD NO INTEREST IN PLAYING WITH IT, SO REPLACED WITH A STANDARD 3 BLADE FIXED PROP. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THE MANUFACTURER IS, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A VARIPROP.

I now believe it to be a Martec prop.

Re: FEATHERING PROP-16" 3 Blade

MORE INFO FROM THE MANUFACTURER:
That's close to 1 inch SAE
It's a standard taper that Martec would usually buy.
To be exact the small end will be .813" which is a little bigger than 3/4"
The taper angle should be 16 in 1

Re: FEATHERING PROP-16" 3 Blade

Does anyone know what would be involved in adapting this prop to a Beneteau Oc 351 with a 25 mm shaft?? and is it practical to do it??

You would need a spacer (plastic or bronze) on your prop shaft to make up the difference between the interior diameter of the SAE prop hub and your metric taper. That's assuming the tapers are the same. And that's assuming you can find, or have fabricated, a spacer thin enough (it will be just a fraction of an inch thick.)

My guess is that you would be better off finding a feathering prop in a metric size.

Re: FEATHERING PROP-16" 3 Blade

You might try to contact Gary Beck @ Martec Eng Corp.
Bus.Hrs: M -TH 7am-5pm PSDT, Tel: 562-435-4494
He was able to answer pitch adjustment question of another member.
Our best resource however has been info email at Seahawk.com, the Austrailian manufacturer of this prop. They also have its installation instructions posted on their website.

Re: FEATHERING PROP-16" 3 Blade

JUST REC'D THIS INFO FROM SEAHAWK;

For it to fit 25mm Benetau shaft :

Keyway = 6mm
Small end of taper = 19mm
Big end of taper = length of taper divided by 10 plus small end size

Benetau tapers are 10 in 1 tapers ( French )

American tapers are 16 in 1 tapers

If you do this calculation below you can figure out the taper

Taper = Big End - Small End / Length of taper

EG. 25.9 - 19 / 69 = .1 this is 10 in 1

or 23.313 - 19 / 69 = 0.0625 this is 16 in 1

Usually only props from Benetau or Jeanneau have 10 in 1 tapers

American boats have SAE 16 in 1 tapers
