Want To Buy: Boarding Gangway/Passerelle

I been seriously working on buying one for the last several weeks. The designs and the strength of the hardware (hinges etch,) seem critical and I have been warned to stay away from really cheap ones

I still cannot work out why they are so expensive! But I also have to bite the bullet this year having given myself a hernia man-handling a gang plank around last season.

Does anyone know where to buy steps that attach to the bow and anchor to aid getiing on and off when parked bow in? Saw a boat in Peurto Mogan with just what I am looking for but he cast off and sailed away before I had time to speak to the owner.

We tend to park nose up to the quayside and I am not sure this will work as there is no large frontage to the bow to rest it against but it is certainly worth considering if there is a method of fixing.

I have just had someone suggest using a folding motorcyle ramp.

It's also about 8" wide, just the thing for coming home from the bar

There is also the problem of attaching it to the boat so that the boat can rotate and roll without being damage from the gangway scraping on it. In my case, I will go almost always tie up stern to and use my sugar scoops for mounting the gangway so while I have large area on which to place the gangway, it also represents a large area I need to protect.
