$500.00 !! REWARD !! For Catamaran Under $120k

Aloha All (from Jack & Nicole)

We are a younger couple in are 30s looking to make the dream come true on a budget. We have been saving and planning for 6 years. We are now ready to set out on a 5 year down wind circumnavigation. I have been doing scuba instruction and captain work for the past 10 years. I will continue to do this as we do our circumnavigation. Nicole is a flight attendant with a lot of friends that fly for free, so we will also do light chartering. Nicole also writes and is working on her dive master.

So this is the part where you come in. We are offering a $500 reward to anyone that can help us find our catamaran. We know 120k is on the low end for a cat like we want. The catamaran kitty did not grow as big as we hoped. So we are looking for one great deal on a catamaran.

If you have a cat that is worth more than 120k and if you want to see it make a circumnavigation but you don't have the time or money and don't enjoy long passages, we may consider an agreement where the current owner would get some free charter weeks every year. This could be a great opportunity for everyone.

We don't mind a cat that needs work but the buying price would need to be less than 120K. We would do most the work our selves if possible. A cat that needs re-powering, sails and TLC would be fine.

We are looking for something bigger than 36ft. and less than 45ft.
Here are some of the features we are looking for however we realize the budget may not get all of them. Owners version, good bridge deck clearance, galley up, straight shafts and dagger boards. We want a low maintenance simple boat, but not a wooden boat.

We are cash buyers and can travel just about anywhere today to see the right boat.

Well thanks for reading and I hope to give you the $500 reward soon.
Mahalo

Cat and Budget conflict. Why are you wedded to a Cat? Not arguing, just curious.

You could get a Santa Cruz 40 for $100k right now in San Francisco. Fast is fun.

I guess the best way to say it is I am a catamaran guy..
We like flat at anchor.
more privacy when chartering
shallower draft

We have spent lots of time on both. I crossed hawaii to Cal in a monohull.
They both have good and bad. But our circumnavigation will definitely be in a cat. Adelie If you are still curious I welcome any question PM me.

Please lets not make this a cat mono thing...

As I said, not arguing.

Have you looked at Catalacs?

re: $500.00 !! REWARD !! For Catamaran Under $120k

Thank you much Adelie for pointing this boat out. I have seen it on line. The catalacs dont have much bridge deck clearance. That is one thing that I think is important in a cat.
Thanks again tho

Ahhhh ... $500 for me.

1994 Lagoon 37 Owner version sailboat for sale in Outside United States

or

2002 Fountaine Pajot Athena 38 sailboat for sale in Outside United States

You can realistically expect to bargain 20% off listed price without too much haggling.

I'll give you my bank details by PM ;-)

re: $500.00 !! REWARD !! For Catamaran Under $120k

You say: "Owners version, good bridge deck clearance, galley up, straight shafts and dagger boards"

I don't think the boat exists with all that, and likely not for $120K. The Catanas have everything you want but the 'straight shaft' which I assume you mean you don't want a saildrive, good luck with that in a cat. The only other option I can think of would be Shuttleworth, but then they're not galley down and they're generally engined with outboards. Your next best options are the Outremers, next then the Fontaine-Pajots, although the FP are mini-keeled.

Wait, I just remembered:
http://www.catamarans.com/sales_port...ssel_id=500633

I went and looked at this boat, and I mean within the last six months. (former name SANTANA) She was under contract at the time, had sold for $200K I think it was. She's for sale again, I'd be curious to find out why she's selling again so soon. You might can get her knocked down pretty good.

My personal experience is that asking price is not reflective of selling price, by a fairly long shot

re: $500.00 !! REWARD !! For Catamaran Under $120k

There's a PDQ in the SF Bay Area listed just under 120K. I don't know if there's one that's ever done a RTW though.

re: $500.00 !! REWARD !! For Catamaran Under $120k

If you reconsider wood, saildrives, and daggers, this boat will take you anywhere - Sailing with Cancer- One Man's race against time!

I have spent a month aboard sailing Imagine to South America from Jacksonville, Florida. She just needs a little love. No repower necessary with 2 strong running Yanmars.

If you did go for Imagine, you can give my $500.00 to Melanie. And I know if you were serious, Mel would go for your price.

Yacht Sales West Inc. (Vancouver, BC)
Asking price is not necessarily the selling price. The owner of this one may be motivated.

Thank you Jannw
You have a good eye for cats. I have actually been in contact with the broker of Carpa DEIM the 37 lagoon. I am planing a trip to granada later this week.
As for the FP they are all 4 charter versions in my price range..
Thanks for pointing these boats out tho.

Ps if the boat is on yachtworld or sailboatlisting I know of it.
Please keep up the search reward stands at 500.00

I have looked at some shuttel worths but not found one I was super stoked on.
Thanks again for your advice..

Thank you

This is a very beautiful boat and would be a great deal at that price. But we dont have the budget to maintain a boat of this caliber.
I would think this boat has some great karma on it. I am sure some one
will make it a great home...
Ps very cool of you to pass on the $500.
Thank you for keeping a eye out..
