Want To Buy: 33' to 40' Sailboat - West Coast

Looking for a 35' to 40ish' sailboat in good sailing condition for 50k or less.

Boat would be used for bluewater cruising/liveaboard.

Would love a catamaran, but for that price I would assume a fixer upper.

Sloop, build by "Destrier" professional boatyard in France. Commissioned by present owner. Reinforced hull made of steel.
Hot galvanized internal and external hull. Coated with primer painting + bi-components epoxy painting and polyurethane lake (last work in boatyard executed in 2007).
The boat is fully insolated with a 5 cm extruded PVC slab plus PVC wainscoting or wood.
Diesel Engine Yanmar 25 hp.
Diesel tank 250 litres in the keel + extra 40 litres tank as a reserve.
Inox tank for fresh water (2 x 250 litres).

I'd suggest checking the ads for SoCal & Mexico, if you want to get much for your money. It'll take you a week in each area(minimum) to check out various boats, but if you save substantially, it may be worth it for you. It was for us. You can have the paperwork done by a rep in Oregon to save on the taxes.

Catamarans requiring a permanent berth are not frequent along coastal central California (not counting America's Cup hopefuls). There may be a good reason for this. It seems that Cats are much more common in SE USA and some other parts of the world. This forum is very pro-catamaran (look at the title picture), so I'm sure you'll get positive catamaran support.
