1978 Nor'Sea 27 Cutter EVERGREEN is ready to roll on her Pacific tri-axle trailer

SERIOUSLY INTERESTED PARTIES PLEASE NOTE : Evergreen is presently winterized, on her Pacific Tri-Axle Trailer, and completely covered. She is parked outside. The posted photos of Evergreen (out-of-the-water and interior) were taken on November 7, 2013. This location is now in the full grip of winter, with 3 ft. deep drifting snow and sub-zero wind-chill temperatures. This is the worst winter for Upstate New York in at least the past 10-15 years. Interest in Evergreen has been, and continues to be very high. Interested parties must understand that until we get a break in this cold snowy winter weather, Evergreen needs to stay covered. Removing and subsequently replacing and securing a heavy-duty 30 foot wide by 50 foot long tarp is a two-person, all-day project. You all are certainly welcome to visit & view Evergreen anytime, but I don't think the near-term weather is going to give us a long-enough window to uncover her & climb aboard for a detailed inspection.... Right now, we must ask that all interested parties have patience and wait for a break in the weather - before scheduling a viewing and subsequent deposit in anticipation of purchase.... We are firm on the asking price, and feel that it reflects a realistic assessment of the value & condition of Evergreen and all of her included equipment.

A detailed list of specifications, equipment, and particulars is available, as are many additional photos. Please call or email with any questions and requests, and we will respond A.S.A.P. (please scroll down for contact info.)

We will keep seriously interested parties constantly updated, and we ask that you please stay in contact with us. THANK YOU SINCERELY FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

Please email us for viewing/inspection appointment times. Viewing/inspection appointment times are subject to delay & re-scheduling due to local weather conditions. Please email us with any questions, concerns, or for updates on our local weather. Any deposits you may make - by any payment method - PRIOR to your in-person viewing/inspection - are non-refundable. In-Person Cash Payment - for both deposit and for final balance - is highly preferred. We very much appreciate your interest in Evergreen!

EVERGREEN, my much-loved Nor'Sea 27 - that I've owned and sailed since 1994 - is being offered FOR SALE BY OWNER. Both my wife and I have age and health concerns that highly motivate this sale; we are seeking a knowledgeable and caring new owner to give Evergreen a new home.

ASKING : $42,500.00

1978 NOR'SEA 27 CUTTER, "Go-Anywhere Heavy Weather Long Distance Blue Water Pocket Cruiser" - presently winterized and covered - READY FOR TRANSPORT on her 1994 custom-built tri-axle Pacific trailer - parked near Jordan, NY 13080, close to the NYS THRUWAY and the NYS ERIE/BARGE CANAL.

Evergreen is a 1978 Heritage Marine Factory-Completed Ship, Hull Number HLK001251278. She is a Federally Documented Vessel, USCG Documentation Number 603273, outfitted with the factory-upgraded two cylinder Yanmar 2QM15 Diesel, serial number 82578.

This aft-cabin model Nor'Sea has a well-protected center cockpit with a large comfortable cabin just aft. She was rigged with the personal approval of Lyle Hess as a CUTTER, with a self-tending (thus easy to tack) staysail, 130 % genoa on a Harken Roller-Furler, a fully-battened mainsail -with 3 reefing points - in lazyjacks (for easy furling), and a lightweight "flyer" (small, simple spinnaker). All sails are TANBARK - in excellent condition, new in 1994 - made by North Sails. All sail-covers are emerald green SUNBRELLA cloth, new in '94, also in excellent condition. Evergreen is a compact, but very seaworthy vessel. It's a real dream ship that can take you anywhere you want to go.

Originally designed in the mid-1970's by the renowned Naval Architect Lyle C. Hess - at the request of Heritage Marine company founder Dean Wixom for a TRAILERABLE "Go-Anywhere Heavy Weather Long Distance Blue Water Cruiser" - capable of sailing anywhere in the world yet be reasonably transportable from one destination to another. One of only a few vessels that fit this niche market, none are more highly regarded than the Nor'Sea 27. Beautiful Nor'Sea 27s can also be efficient full-time live-aboards (for two). Nor'Sea 27s never stay at the dock for long; they have sailed all over the WORLD, with numerous documented & completed circumnavigations and over 152 Pacific and Atlantic crossings. She has very long range fuel and water tankage. Very few pocket cruisers have as much going for them as Nor'Sea 27s.

The lapstrake hull of the Nor'Sea 27 is constructed of alternating layers of 1 1/2"-oz. fiberglass mat and 18-oz. woven roving with polyester resin. Laminate thickness varies from 5/16" at the sheer to 3/4" at the keel. Although the lapstrake hull is more costly and time consuming to build, it does add strength to the overall structure. Ballast is 3,000 lbs. of encapsulated (inside the 3/4" hand-laid keel laminate) lead pellets, so there is no concern for maintaining keel bolts. The deck is fiberglass with plywood core for strength and stiffness, and is joined to the hull with adhesive sealants and stainless steel bolts on six-inch centers. Fiberglass liners and plywood bulkheads combine to provide the necessary structural reinforcement. Bottom line - one would be hard pressed to find a more stoutly built 27-footer; it is one of the world's strongest sailboats, heavily built and rigged for the open ocean.

Evergreen is ready for transport on her 1994 custom-built tri-axle PACIFIC TRAILER with heavy-duty roller bunks and surge brakes. This Pacific trailer is in nearly-new condition - it has only been used for two trips - a total of approx. 2500 miles; it has never been used to launch Evergreen, it has been used for over-the-road transport only, and it has never been immersed in water. It is fully galvanized, and is plumbed with fresh-water brake washdown lines. Its eight tires (including two spares) are also nearly-new. Replacement value (for the trailer alone) on this Pacific Tri-Axle Trailer was set by marine survey at $10,500.00, in 2009.
