I got some made, it was quite cheap less than $10 each. You just need to find someone. Be careful make sure they do the hexagon holes decently.

Who made your bases? What material?

Unfortunately I am now also looking for replacement stanchion bases. Yesterday while launching the boat after dry storage during hurricane season, I noticed one base was broken.

The integrity of the rest now becomes suspect. Should I buy a full set and replace them one by one as they fail or should I bite the bullet and replace the entire set now?

I got them made in Panama.
I think you can almost make them yourself, google metal casting and there are some tutorials on utube.
Mine were made from cast aluminum which is what I think the originals are also made from.

I would only replace the ones that are cracked, they are of poor design and so I would suggest you keep a few spares.

As you mentioned above, these base fittings are not very well made and are not the correct material in the first place. Most everyone knows that cast aluminum (the fittings) in contact with stainless steel (the stanchions) in a salty environment will always loose the galvanic battle.

What about fabricating something from stainless steel that will fit the spot? In a pinch, a piece of SS angle iron drilled for U-bolts to hold the stanchion with another hole for the hold down bolt might work. It wouldn't be pretty but could be functional. Maybe I'll take one that hasn't broken yet to a machine shop to see what they can do.

While researching a source for these bases today, I came across an old e-mail quote from Muriel Guillard at FP in 2010 that listed the bases as:
- 1007822 STANCHION BASE REF.P3 : 20.10€ VAT exempt

I just removed these aluminum bases from my fp and had them all re- made in stainless steel with three screws holding them in rather than the single one from the manufacturer. I was never comfortable with the use of disimilar metals as over time they corrode and pose a safety issue. The old ones were removed , along with the stanchions, & are in a consignment shop in Oriental NC USA, not much help to you in NZ, but Muriel at fp should be able to ship you exact replacements if you want to go with same. A freind with another fp had luck getting them direct from fp and they were reasonable. Good luck!

I managed to get one from multihull solutions in Queensland. Aus $ 65 for the base, 20 bucks postage to NZ and....75 bucks 'handling' fee...how's that for a profit margin on spares!

Did they tell you they were charging the handling fee, I know they can be very vague about how much an item will cost.

We, too, are looking at options to replace the aluminum stanchion bases on our FP Bahia46. Ours is 2001 and has spent its full life in the Caribbean. As you can see from the photo below, the aluminum has crumbled into a pitiful powder inside even when the outer shell still looks like it is in good shape. (ignore the brightly colored net that is tied at the base of the stanchion -- we used inexpensive volleyball net along the lifelines to keep our dog from slipping off the deck).

Yes, we need a minimum of eight plus we need to replace one missing stanchion post. Are you considering placing a bulk order? If so, are you going through FP or a separate stainless supplier?

The original FP stanchion bases are non-anodized cast aluminum.
Not a good robust design for a product you would expect to last the life of the boat. These should never be a problem and yet we are talking about them, because at this point they are actually a safety issue.

For whatever reason FP and Lagoons after market support is horrible. Feedback from other cruisers here have said this over and over. You’re pretty much on your own for aftermarket parts & service once the boat is out of warranty.

These FP stanchion bases need a redesign and I was willing to take this on and fabricate them as a replacement item.
If their truly is a need for this, then I would do it. If not, then I would not take on the re-design and fabrication burden.

I am not one for drilling more holes in the boat. A single bolt stanchion base would be a direct replacement and would be fairly fast and easy to replace.

All the standard stanchion bases off the shelf have three or four base plate holes, causing a mounting issue or filling the holes with weld.

Here is a few pictures of what I designed and would use on my Mahe 36 when the time comes.
