Which GPS Works

I have loaded Opencpn and purchased a GlobalSat BU-353S4usb GPS receiver. What I learned is this does not work with Mac OSx Mojave 10.14.6, it does work with Mac OSx 10.1-10.6. Did lots of reading on this site and on the web. I cannot find anything other than the mentioned GPS receiver, which does not work with the operating system I have. If anyone has had success with a GPS receiver using Mac OSx Mojave please share. Meantime I am using inavx on the iPhone but would much rather have the larger viewing platform.

Re: Which GPS Works

You will never have any problems with any OS when using a Bluetooth GPS as long the OS you are using has a Blueooth stack which mostly any OS has.
A good candidate is the Dual XGPS160 Skypro GPS receiver which can feed 5 different devices at the same time and receive GPS and Glonass with 1 Hz or 10 Hz..

Re: Which GPS Works

Well no, I do not recommend BT GPS at all. It is much better to get your NMEA data, incl. GPS, on a boat wifi network and then use that wifi for everything incl. IPad apps and OpenCPN.

There are many ways to do this, a plug and play solution comes with every Vesper AIS and then you have dedicated affordable gadgets like from YachtDevices.
